Fabricia Lepoutre and Gordon Hopkins together in Honfleur

For its exhibition on 6 June 2026, Galerie Arnaud Bard brought together two artists with very different worlds in Honfleur: Fabricia Lepoutre and Gordon Hopkins.

Two sensibilities, two pictorial languages, yet the same freedom in their approach to colour, light and texture.

Fabricia Lepoutre — Silence and light

Fabricia Lepoutre’s paintings invite us to look at what remains when nothing seems to be happening.

A quiet presence runs through her interiors, landscapes and objects. People may be absent, yet life seems to have left behind a chair moved out of place, an open window, a patch of light or the trace of someone passing through.

“Above all, I paint sensations, emotions that are difficult to explain in words.”

Silence plays an essential part in her work. Fabricia Lepoutre does not try to tell the whole story. She prefers to leave viewers free to look and to preserve a sense of mystery.

“In painting, you must not say everything.”

Light, which she has observed since childhood, is one of the threads running through her painting. Her work remains deeply instinctive: forms, colours and tensions take shape directly on the canvas until the emotion she seeks emerges.

“The struggle is with colour, light and the tensions that create the emotion I am looking for.”

Gordon Hopkins — Colour and texture

Alongside the inward quality of Fabricia Lepoutre’s work, Gordon Hopkins develops a generous, richly layered and luminous style of painting.

A former landscape architect, he creates worlds in which vegetation, landscapes and architectural forms meet. His memories of California and his travels in southern Europe feed a colourful, free pictorial world.

Working notably with oil paint and oil bars, he builds thick, vibrant surfaces in which the paint’s physical texture becomes fully visible.

A meeting through painting

Fabricia Lepoutre and Gordon Hopkins each maintain a longstanding relationship with Galerie Arnaud Bard.

For Fabricia, this collaboration grew naturally from a shared sensibility:

“It all came together very simply, through a love of painting.”

Shown together in Honfleur, their works establish an unexpected dialogue: restraint and silence find an answer in colour and exuberance; light finds an answer in texture.

Two distinctive worlds brought together by one shared passion: painting.
